Terri grew up on the north shore of Lake Superior surrounded by music, listening to her mother (local wedding singer and former country music recording artist) sing and play guitar. She began playing guitar at the age of 9 and writing songs at the age of 14 and has been writing and performing with various musical groups ever since. Terri enjoys running, dancing, shoes, animals, body art, and reading about microscopic things that can kill us. A self-described nerdy scientist, she makes her living as a college biology professor and HIV/AIDS researcher in St. Paul.
Murray is originally from North Branch, Minnesota, made his singing debut on a small town radio station in the 1950s, and grew up in the 1960s when Top 40 Radio was king on WDGY and KDWB. He was never far away from a transistor or car radio that blared out the favorite surf music, Motown and British Invasion hits of the day. His love of music took him to his first career as a deejay and music director on several radio stations in the 70s and 80s.
His greatest pleasure today is bringing back these great sounds for those who grew up with them and those hearing them for the first time. Murray loves giving life to the era’s classic and forgotten songs through the Wax-Tones’ commitment to the authentic sound of AM Rock-n-Roll music.
Brian grew up in Iowa, attending high school in Monticello, where he sang and played piano and horn. He later attended the University of Michigan, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in music. He has played in several different musical groups since moving to the Twin Cities in 2004, including jazz combos, funk groups, rock bands, and improv comedy theaters. Although by far the youngest member of the Wax Tones, Brian is familiar with 60’s music, having been introduced to it by his parents (although it was the 1980’s at the time). Brian works an action-packed day job, where he sits at a computer reviewing documents for insurance inspections while trying not to fall asleep.

John grew up in northern Minnesota's Iron Range and later moved to Duluth. His father is a well-known accordionist, but it was the guitar that John was attracted to at an early age. As a child he was influenced by guitar greats such as Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy, Scotty Moore, and Chuck Berry. In high school, John played guitar in the Jazz Ensemble where he learned complex chords and rhythms.
"I developed a love for jazz. I still get to play with a jazz band at least once a year for the Osseo School District's Waste Basket Revue band. WBR is an annual event to raise money for scholarships."
John played in a variety of bands over the years that covered many genres of music. "I enjoy just about all styles of guitar; it's amazing what you can learn by keeping an open mind," he says. John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Management. He is currently employed by a consulting firm working on projects for digital public safety radio systems, digital microwave systems, and IT Projects. John is also busy with his family, and he and his wife enjoy raising their two daughters.
